135 beneficiaries receive free eye checkups, eyeglasses from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Some 135 beneficiaries received free eye checkups and eyeglasses under GMA Kapuso Foundation’s initiative.

According to “24 Oras” Friday, among the recipients was a ten-year-old boy named Baste, whose glasses broke after getting bullied.

“‘Pag sundo ko noong ano, umiiyak. Sabi niya, ‘wag ko raw siyang pagalitan kasi raw nabasag ‘yung salamin niya kasi raw na-bully siya,” Jennifer Radores said.

Another beneficiary, Joydee Rose De Jesus, also struggled with blurry vision that affected her work in the barangay.

“Minsan din ‘yung mata ko, nagluluha. Meron kaming kailangan na i-chat-chat sa akin, kinakailangan ko pa, i-zoom ko pa para mabasa ko,” she said.

In partnership with Ideal Vision, GMA Kapuso Foundation offered free eye check-ups, eyeglasses, and food to 135 beneficiaries.

“Ang fully developed po kasi na mata is seven to eight years old. So ngayon, mas maraming na ngayon ‘yung mas malabong mata na bata dahil sa gadgets. Kailangan malinaw ‘yung paningin kasi sa mata nanggagaling lahat ng mata-transmit sa brain mo, so mas makakapag-function ka nang maayos,” Dr. Queenie Filoteo said.

For those who are interested to help, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
