Gordon Ramsay reveals undergoing skin cancer surgery: 'Don't forget your sunscreen'

Gordon Ramsay says he underwent skin cancer surgery

Gordon Ramsay took to social media to share that he recently underwent surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma, which is a type of skin cancer.

On Instagram, the celebrity chef shared a photo of the side of his face with a bandage underneath his ear. He also showed a picture of his scar in the next slide.

"Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma," he wrote. "Thank you."

"Please don't forget your sunscreen this weekend," he added.

According to Healthline, basal cell carcinoma "results in tumors that appear on the skin's surface," which often look like bumps, red patches, growths, sores, or scars.

In June, Gordon got into an accident while riding his bicycle in Connecticut and stressed the importance of wearing a helmet.

In January, the culinary icon was in the Philippines to celebrate the opening of his first restaurant in the country, Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill in Pasay City.

Gordon is the chef behind several Michelin-starred restaurants, including Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in the UK and Le Pressoir d'Argent in Bordeaux. He's opened restaurants worldwide, including Singapore, the UAE, and Japan. —Hermes Joy Tunac/KG, GMA Integrated News
