42 PWDs in Northern Mindanao receive arm, hand prostheses from GMA Kapuso Foundation, LN-4 Foundation

A total of 42 persons with disabilities in Northern Mindanao received arm and hand prostheses from the GMA Kapuso Foundation and the LN-4 Foundation.

According to "24 Oras" Wednesday, among the beneficiaries of the project was Jerson Tanghian, who was born without a right hand.

"Kayang-kaya ko naman ang trabaho pero pagdating sa interview, sinabihan kang hindi ka pwede kasi PWD ka, parang masasaktan ka," he said.

Despite the struggles he faced due to his disability, Jerson did not lose heart.

He was able to find work as a safety officer in a construction company and also sidelines as a delivery rider. In his free time, he plays badminton and competes in throwing events like javelin and shot put.

"Kahit PWD kami, kung anong kaya nila sa mga able, kaya rin namin," said Jerson.

Another beneficiary of the project is Gina Lacubtan, a woman who lost her right hand after a jeepney she was riding got involved in an accident.

"'Yung sinasakyan namin na jeep, nawalan ng brake. Iyak ako nang iyak, matagal akong nakarecover," she said.

To provide lift to their daily lives, the GMA Kapuso Foundation and the LN-4 Foundation donated free arm and hand prostheses to Jerson, Gina, and 40 other PWDs.

The initiative was made possible with the help of the Philippine Army's 4th Infantry Division, which provided manpower, vehicles, and moral support.

"Binibigyan natin sila ng hope para maibalik ulit 'yung self-esteem nila at tsaka 'yung independence nila," said Grace Cabato, ambassador of LN-4 Foundation.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
