Cassy Legaspi now more health conscious, confident after hypothyroidism diagnosis: 'I finally put myself first'
Cassy Legaspi has learned to take better care of her health and be more confident after being diagnosed with hypothyroidism in the past year.
According to Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras" Friday, the Sparkle star's diagnosis was her turning point to finally prioritize herself and her health.
"I just finally, finally put myself and my health first. Nagpacheck-up po ako and I found out may hypothyroidism ako and decided it's time to take action na. I think I just let my hypothyroidism for a year or two and it just got worse, I got more sick," she said.
Per Cassy, she was diagnosed with the condition in 2024.
"Last year was my wakeup call na, I think I need to get my health in check and the more I didn't focus sa aesthetics ko, dun po ako pumayat and I actually got stronger. Baically, I got stronger. I focused on the inner and lumabas siya," she shared.
Hypothyroidism or an underactive thyroid is a condition in which the thyroid gland doesn't make enough hormones to address your body's needs. Symptoms include weight gain, infertility, fatigue, trouble tolerating the cold, and joint and muscle pain, among others.
Cassy is set to star in the upcoming Kapuso series "Hating Kapatid" with her twin brother Mavy and their parents Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villarroel.
The series will also be the first time for Cassy to do a swimsuit scene.
The actress shared that while she got "a bit nervous" for the scene, she realized that it was her moment to show how far she's come.
"I worked so hard to get to where I am now in terms of my confidence. It's time to show the world where I am in terms of my confidence," she said.
"Hating Kapatid" will begin airing on October 13 at 2:30 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime.
