Kapuso Bloodletting Day highlights GMA Network’s bayanihan spirit for Cebu, Davao quake victims

The Kapuso Bloodletting Day on Friday, October 24, was a show of the bayanihan spirit for victims of the recent earthquakes in Cebu and Davao.

The GMA Network Corporate Affairs and Communications Office partnered with the GMA Kapuso Foundation and the Philippine Red Cross to organize the day-long event, where employees donated bags of blood, which will be brought to the provinces.

GMA Vice President and Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications Angel Javier Cruz told GMA News Online that the Philippine Red Cross reached out to their office as more blood is needed in Cebu and Davao.

According to Javier Cruz, there were already 99 bags of blood donated by employees as of 12:30 p.m.

“Nakakatuwa na ang dami nating mga Kapuso dito sa GMA, na kahit naka-duty, you know, nagpapaalam sila to come here for a while and donate blood for the victims of the earthquake not only in Cebu, but in Davao, and other parts of the country,” she said.

“And I’m sure the blood that they will be donating will help not only the earthquake victims, but also other people who are in need of blood."

Per Javier Cruz, the bayanihan spirit was evident and was “truly alive” thanks to all the Khe Kapuso who willingly donated their blood.

“With so much negativity that’s happening around and so, so many sad stories lately, it’s heartwarming and it’s inspiring to see our fellow Kapuso na they go out of their way,” she said.

“Na hindi naman nila kilala ‘yung mga tao, they don’t really have to do it. But out of the goodness of their hearts, they really come out to help.”
