App aims to help users track and manage diabetes with ease

A new mobile application called Buddybetes aims to help people with diabetes track and monitor their blood sugar levels and food intake.

According to Martin Javier’s report on “24 Oras,” Friday, users can log their blood sugar level manually after using a glucometer.

It also features optical character recognition (OCR), allowing users to simply take a picture of the glucometer reading, and the results will be recorded automatically.

Since food significantly affects blood sugar, the app offers several ways to record meals, including a voice command feature, where a built-in AI assistant can record food entries through simple voice commands.

Buddybetes developer Princess Ventures showed an example where it detected chocolate-filled biscuits with 100 grams per serving, 14.9 carbs, 4,7 grams of protein, 4 grams of fat, and 109 calories.

The food scan feature also allows users to take photos of their meal, and the app will then analyze it, detect the food, and provide estimated serving size, calories, carbs, protein, and fat content.

All the data recorded is viewable on a single dashboard, and the app automatically analyzes these records to show the user if their blood sugar levels are improving or worsening.

Other key features include trends visualization, where users can monitor glucose trends using intuitive graphs, which may show data for the last six months; meal suggestions, where an AI chatbot can offer healthy meal ideas; and improvement tips that teach users steps they can take to improve their sugar levels.

Users can also easily save their readings, personal information, and total readings to show to their doctor.
