St. Luke's inhaler clinic opens to improve asthma, COPD patient care
St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) has opened an inhaler clinic service specifically designed to cater to patients with pulmonary disorders such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
In a statement on Friday, SLMC said that its first-of-its-kind clinic in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) ensured that patients received proper medication and coaching support in the correct use of inhalers and nebulizers.
With their team of pulmonologists and respiratory therapists, the inhaler clinic service will focus on correcting inhaler technique, monitoring treatment outcomes, providing focused and personalized care, and more structured education for patients and caregivers.
SLMC noted that 94% of patients did not use their inhalers in the correct manner, which resulted in poor control and reduced their quality of life.
The new clinic intends to cause a reduction in asthma and COPD attacks, better medical absorption, fewer emergencies and hospitalizations, and ensure a better quality of life for patients.
“As the first dedicated inhaler clinic in the Philippines, St. Luke’s sets a new standard in pulmonary care, offering patients a unique, comprehensive service to help them breathe easier,” the statement read. –Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/NB, GMA Integrated News
