Albay residents affected by Mayon Volcano unrest receive medicines, vitamins from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Residents affected by the unrest of Mayon Volcano in Albay, Bicol received medicines for cough and cold, as well as vitamins from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a report on "24 Oras" Wednesday, the volcano's unrest has caused ashfall in several barangays, including Barangay Muladbucad in Guinobatan, prompting Marife Boñgal, a resident, to bring her kids to an evacuation center.

"Marami na po kasing abo rito kaya kawawa naman po 'yung mga bata, magkakasakit. 'Yung tatlo kong anak may ubo po," she said.

Children in Camalig are also starting to get sick due to the changing weather.

"'Yung mga bata po nag-umpisa na po mag-ubo, sipon. Mahirap na po kung maglala na," said Sherly Marilla.

To help the residents, the GMA Kapuso Foundation went to the municipal health offices of Camalig and Sto. Domingo to donate medicines for cold and cough, as well as vitamins.

"Sa evacuation sites naka-ready naman din po kung sino 'yung mga point person if ever man po magkaroon po ng super flu. Sobrang laking tulong niya po kasi ngayon po kulang na kulang po talaga kami sa gamot para sa mga bata," said Dr. Camille Espiritu, a rural health physician under the Department of Health's Doctor to the Barrios program.

The foundation also donated dog food, cat food, and pet vitamins to the Albay Veterinary Office for animals affected by Mayon Volcano's unrest.

"Kayo po ang unang nakapagbigay or nakapagdonate po ng ganito sa mga animals lalo na po 'yung mga vitamins kasi po sympre 'yung stress na ma-experience po nila during the evacuation ay kailangan ma-address, said Dr. Pancho Mella, a veterinarian at the Albay Veterinary Office.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
