Asia Rose Simpson highlights mental health in winning answer at Miss World Philippines 2026
A new Miss World Philippines queen has been crowned, and it’s none other than Asia Rose Simpson of Quezon City.
During the final round of the competition, which was the Q&A portion, Asia Rose was asked: “Do you believe social media has helped or hurt society?"
To which, she answered: “Mental health issues are on the rise. One in seven children worldwide experience mental health disorders, and the World Health Organization relays that 80% of adolescents don't meet the recommended levels of activity. That's where SED initiative comes in, my sports and dance initiative that specifically advocates for the physical, mental, and emotional health of today's youth. Social media has so many benefits, it helps us all promote different businesses and organizations that help us succeed. However, I think it's also used as a crutch for our creativity, for our social skills. Just let's use social media responsibly. Thank you.”
Aside from the Miss World Philippines title, Asia Rose also won the special awards Dr. Toledo Cosmetics Ambassador, Talent Challenge winner, and Beauty with a Purpose.
She also won the Best in Swimsuit award, which she shared with Valerie Pawid West of Ifugao.
Meanwhile, Anne De Mesa of Manila was named First Princess, and Gabriel Fuentes Galapia of Pampanga was named Second Princess. —Hermes Joy Tunac/JCB, GMA Integrated News
