Lara Quigaman reveals recent health scare: 'I was having severe chest pain'

Lara Quigaman took to social media to share a recent health scare that began with severe chest pain.

On Facebook, the Miss International 2005 titleholder revealed that her husband, Marco Alcaraz, had to call 911 when she began suffering from intense chest pain "unlike I’ve ever felt before." 

“I was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, and since then, I’ve had a series of tests to find out what’s happening with my heart,” she said.

“Even though doctors ruled out that the pain wasn’t cardiac-related, they want to be cautious and make sure it’s working properly,” she added.

Lara said that today, she underwent additional tests to ensure there are no blockages in her heart, though she did not disclose the exact cause of her severe chest pain.

“Sometimes I feel anxious, waiting for results, and especially when I feel pain in my chest area or when I feel short of breath,” she said.

“But I am grateful for this season. God is teaching me to trust and be still before Him and to give Him my heart—literally,” she added.

In June 2025, Lara earned her diploma for Early Childhood Education in Vancouver, Canada.

Lara and Marco have been married since 2011, and they have three sons.
