A nursing student from Taguig City didn’t hesitate to respond to a motorist who collapsed on the street.

In Mariz Umali’s SONA report Thursday, graduating nursing student Danzen Valdez said she was on her way to school to take an exam when her mother rushed in her room to inform about the situation.

Tignan mo nga kung anong nangyari,’” she shared.

She immediately responded to the motorist and performed a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The man was brought to the hospital shortly after.

“Medyo mahina na po ‘yung pulso ni sir noon, so naisip ko na ito na po, magsi-CPR na po ako sa kaniya,” Danzen said, adding she didn’t hesitate to help the man because she felt like it’s her purpose as a future nurse.

For Danzen, help and compassion go beyond the classroom and hospital walls. Despite stepping in to assist that day, she still managed to take and pass her exams.

— Jade Veronique Yap/LA, GMA Integrated News
