Young woman regains confidence after dental transformation with GMA Kapuso Foundation

A 21-year-old woman has regained her confidence after receiving dental care through GMA Kapuso Foundation, following years of struggling with severe tooth decay.

According to “24 Oras,” Friday, Jessmarie Guban used to light up every room with her smile. But that changed when she was around 15, as she gradually became withdrawn and avoided people, the mirror, and even cameras.

She pointed to the condition of her teeth as the reason behind her loss of confidence.

“Natuluyan na siya. Naghawa-hawa po. Mahilig po ako sa matamis. Hindi pa ako masyadong maano mag-toothbrush,” Jessmarie said.

With her father working as a construction worker and her mother as a household helper, the family struggled to afford dental care.

Hoping for help, Jessmarie reached out to the GMA Kapuso Foundation to seek assistance for her condition.

“Binunot natin ‘yung kanyang ngipin kasi talagang sirang-sira na siya. And then gagawan natin siya ng ngipin. ‘Pag mahilig ka sa matatamis, dahil meron ka nang tooth decay, lalong masira at mas dumami ang bacteria sa ngipin,” Dr. Cynthia Fortuna De Pano said.

After three weeks, Jessmarie returned with a transformed smile and a renewed sense of self.

“Binigyan natin ng top quality ba. Para maging confident siya lalo na ‘pag may kausap siyang tao,” the dentist said.

The timing of her transformation is especially meaningful, as Jessmarie is nearing the completion of her degree in Information Technology.

“Sa lahat ng sinubukan kong hingan ng tulong, GMA lang po. Sila pa po talaga ‘yung nakatulong sa akin,” she said.
