Fifty-eight people were stung by jellyfish at Tondaligan Beach in Dagupan, Pangasinan over the weekend.
According to a “Balitanghali” report, the chief lifeguard said the victims experienced vomiting, itchiness, and difficulty in breathing.
The authorities gave them immediate assistance, while five individuals were brought to a clinic.
Swimming in Tondaligan Beach is temporarily prohibited due to the incident.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has these tips in case you get stung or attacked by a jellyfish.
- Wash the affected area with vinegar for 30 seconds.
- Next, remove the remaining tentacles from the affected area.
- Soak the affected area in hot water to lessen the pain and swelling.
- Finally, bring the patient to a hospital if they experience extreme symptoms, like trouble breathing or tightening of the chest.
