An hour away from Quezon City is Montalban, Rizal, a spot known for its fresh mountain views.

The area hosts the Montalban Mountain Run (MMR), which is enjoyed by student-athletes and even furbabies.

On "24 Oras Weekend," Bea Pinlac interviewed Albin Moka, Montalban Mountain Run Assistant Race Director, who said that as the years go by, the MMR is slowing growing.

""Nag-ii-start na siya maging inclusive at diverse," he said, adding "Isa sa mga goals ng MMR is to support the young athletes in Wawa."

Mark Bryan “Koi” Grey, a coach and mountain athlete who has ran through various mountains, finished the 21km MMR trail in less than three hours.

“You see yourself and discover deeper parts of yourself. You feel alive in the mountains. So ‘yun ‘yung binabalik-balikan mo kahit mahirap siya,” Grey said.

Although tiring and hurts the feet, running the 21-km trail relieves stress because it is very close to nature.

“Mawawala na ‘yung worries mo kasi nga natapos mo ‘yung trail,” Moka said. “Being better not for others but for your self-improvement.”

Grey reminds to just do it and remember the why. — Nika Roque/LA, GMA News
