On International Day of Yoga 2026, India eyes Guinness World Record for synchronized yoga aboard boat
For International Day of Yoga 2026, Indian yogis rolled out their mats to celebrate the ancient practice that promotes the union of the mind and body.
According to Mariz Umali's report on “Unang Balita” Monday, a large-scale yoga session was conducted aboard a boat in Kolkata, India as part of an attempt to secure a Guinness World Record for synchronized yoga.
In New Delhi, many people also took part in a yoga session held in a garden.
Yoga sessions were likewise held in several other countries, including the Philippines, Nepal, and South Africa.
In December 2014, the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga following a proposal by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The first International Day of Yoga was celebrated on June 21, 2015, in New Delhi, where Modi joined thousands of participants in a mass yoga session. — Hermes Joy Tunac/LA, GMA News
