Barbie’s Cradle bassist Rommel dela Cruz in the ICU due to diabetes complications

A month ahead of their reunion show, Barbie's Cradle announced that their bassist, Rommel dela Cruz, is facing health issues.

In a statement, the band said that Rommel has been experiencing "silent heart attacks due to complications from diabetes."

Barbie's Cradle is asking for prayers as he remains under observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

"His doctors have recommended coronary artery bypass surgery, but his family is still weighing their options on the best course of treatment based on his condition and the medical advice they receive," the statement read.

"Rommel's health remains our topmost priority, and we continue to stand with him and his family every step of the way," Barbie's Cradle said.

As for the upcoming show, Barbie's Cradle: One Night Only, the band will announce Rommel's temporary replacement in the coming days.

A portion of the proceeds from the concert will go to Rommel's hospitalization and recovery expenses. The band is also working on additional initiatives to further support Rommel and his family.

Those who wish to o support Rommel may reach out to his wife, Owie dela Cruz, via Viber at +639152864494.

Barbie's Cradle's reunion show is scheduled on August 1 at the Music Museum in San Juan City. Tickets are now on sale.

Along with the announcement of their reunion, the band previously teased three new songs. They dropped the comeback song, "Emergency," in June.

Barbie's Cradle is composed of Barbie, Rommel, Kakoy Legaspi, and Wendell Garcia.

The alternative rock band was active from 1998 to 2005. They are known for the songs "Tabing Ilog," "Pangarap," and "Limang Dipang Tao."
