Ghost Month is finally over. Here's what to consider before you make that move
Ghost Month ends on September 10. And what a month it has been!
August had us delaying plans, postponing decisions, and being a little more cautious than usual. Then came the disruptions, unexpected developments, things coming to light, and circumstances changing. Now that Ghost Month is coming to a close, some things may look very different from when it all started.
So if you’ve been waiting for this moment, you’re probably wondering: Can I finally move forward?
When I wrote about Ghost Month back in August, I mentioned its unusual overlap with eclipse season. We just had two eclipses: the Leo Solar Eclipse in the middle of August, followed by the Pisces Lunar Eclipse towards the end of the month.
Traditionally, Ghost Month is a time when people become more cautious about major beginnings and decisions, whether it be launching a business, moving to a new home, making a major purchase, signing an important contract, getting married, or holding a big celebration.
But while everyone was being careful, life wasn’t standing still. Life kept moving, and a lot happened in between.
You may now know something that you didn’t know before August. Some things may have come to light. Your priorities may have shifted.
So before we gallop back into our plans, hold your horses. It is the Year of the Horse, after all, and the Horse isn’t exactly known for standing still.
Ask yourself this question: Does that plan even make sense to me now?
A lot can change within a short period of time. A lot can change in a month, even your mind.
If there's one thing years of corporate strategy work has taught me, it is that a plan is not something you stick to blindly just because you made it. The plan was based on what you knew and what made sense at the time, but conditions change. New information comes in and, sometimes, the intelligent move is to be dynamic enough to adjust.
We spend so much time talking about what not to do during Ghost Month that we overlook one useful thing about all that caution: it gives us time. Sometimes, that extra time can give us the information we didn’t have when we first made the plan.
The plans you postponed may be back on the table — the launch, contract, purchase, move, wedding, and what-have-you — but just because September 10 has arrived doesn’t automatically mean it’s all systems go.
In fact, the timing gives us one more reason to look things over before moving forward. Less than a day after Ghost Month ends, we have a New Moon on September 11 at 11:27 AM (Philippine Time).
Coincidence? Perhaps not.
This New Moon happens in Virgo, the sign associated with attention to detail, scrutiny, analysis, figuring out what works and what doesn’t, and what needs to be organized or fixed.
This is where Virgo-like precision comes in. Check the facts. Check the numbers. Read the fine print. Ask the necessary questions you weren’t able to ask the first time.
You may be thinking, “But astrology can help us choose a good day, right?” Yes, technically it can. But remember, even an auspicious date can’t make a bad decision good.
Naturally, the next question becomes: Is September 11 a good day to start something? I know this may be an annoying answer, but astrologically, it depends. Good for whom, and good for what?
The New Moon happens for everyone, but it doesn’t activate the same area of everyone’s personal chart. For one person, the focus may be career or business; for another, relationships, money, health, home, or family.
August may have given you enough information to ask a better question: Now that I know more, should I still do it?
If the answer is no, that is all the answer you need. Ghost Month may be over, but that doesn’t mean every plan you put on hold needs to come back to life.
