'The Love Hypothesis' author Ali Hazelwood announces book, film sequel

“The Love Hypothesis” is getting a book and film sequel!

On Instagram, author Ali Hazelwood announced that writing a sequel was not part of her original plans.

“I wrote a sequel to ‘The Love Hypothesis’ is not a sentence I thought I’d say a year or so ago,” Ali said. “But now I weirdly can’t imagine a world in which ‘The Two-Body Problem’ doesn’t exist.”

The upcoming novel, set to hit shelves in February 2027, revisits Adam and Olive, the couple at the center of “The Love Hypothesis,” following the release of its film adaptation.

“‘The Love Hypothesis’ movie and its cast made me fall for Adam and Olive all over again. Revisiting them was an absolute pleasure,” she said.

As a teaser for the sequel, Ali said the story “spans a couple of years, and it’s a mix of slice of life, postdoctoral turmoil, and unflinching exploration of the hardest challenge one will face in a long-term relationship: deciding what to have for dinner.”

The author also announced that MRC is developing a film based on “The Two-Body Problem” for Amazon MGM Studios.

Earlier in September, “The Love Hypothesis” released its film adaptation on Prime Video, starring Lili Reinhart as Olive and Tom Bateman as Adam.
