Viral game 'Dressmaker' was created after developer's wife lost ability to sew
The story behind the viral game "Dressmaker" is as personal as the creations that players can make in it.
The hit cozy game by Cozy Lives, released on September 21, lets players run their own dressmaking business, giving them freedom to choose fabric, cut out patters, and sew creations.
According to Game Press, developer Jonathan Hau-Yoon created the game to help his wife, Sabrina Becker, reconnect with her love of sewing after a medical condition disrupted her ability to pursue her craft.
Becker had hoped to purse costume design professionally, but she was diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that can cause unusually flexible or unstable joints, joint pain, and severe fatigue.
With their shared love for games, the couple collaborated on "Dressmaker," which ultimately turned into a hit, receiving an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam.
"Dressmaker" is available to play on Mac and PC via Steam for P468.11. —JCB, GMA News
