Free horror house at Luneta Park reopens to the public
A free horror house at Luneta Park in Manila has reopened to the public, giving visitors a spooky attraction to enjoy ahead of Halloween.
According to Raffy Tima’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC) opened its annual Lunetakutan attraction on Friday night, drawing groups of friends, tourists, and other visitors.
“It was a really great experience, and I really like the many surprises throughout the entry,” a foreign tourist said.
The masked figures who frighten visitors are NPDC employees who also helped create the entire horror house.
NPDC events specialist Irish Jane Domingo shared that the attraction is scheduled to run for two days.
“For now, it will run for only two days. Hopefully, next year, since this is an annual celebration, we can extend it to three days,” Domingo said in Filipino.
Aside from the horror house, the committee also prepared a special Halloween surprise for tourists who booked the NPDC’s night tour. The tour takes visitors from Luneta Park to Paco Park, with unexpected encounters planned along the way.
“We have a little twist because it's Halloween. There will be some surprises during the tour,” Domingo said.
However, she noted that all slots for the night tour had already been filled due to high demand.
While Luneta Park remains a popular destination for visitors throughout the year, Domingo said activities like Lunetakutan are important to give the public new experiences to look forward to.
She also emphasized that beyond being a place for recreation and relaxation, the park serves as a reminder of the country's past.
“This is not just a place to stop by or rest. This is a place where we remember the important historical events that happened in our country,” Domingo said.
