Connie Sison, together with Senior Program Manager Queenie Dimapawi, walked the red carpet of the Monte-Carlo TV Festival to represent Unang Hirit, which was nominated in the Breaking News category for its outstanding coverage of the Resorts World attack in June 2017.

In their coverage, the Unang Hirit team looked into every possible angle of the story — from the victims and the rescue team, to the officials.

UH is the only news show from the Philippines nominated in the category, competing against Al Jazeera English from Qatar, BBC News and Sky News from United Kingdom and RT from Russia.

It was BBC News that bagged the award for their story on Zimbabwe.

In her telecast on Wednesday, Connie Sison said it was an honor to be named among other competitive international news outlets.

"Ang mapabilang po at mapahanay sa mga tulad po ng mga naglalakihang TV networks at maraming iba pa ay isa pong malaking karangalan para po sa Unang Hirit, at ito po ay magsisilbing inspirasyon para po lalo pa naming pagbutihin ang aming trabaho para sa aming serbisyong totoo, para sa inyo," Connie said.

Apart from attending the awarding night, the UH team also toured the Notre Dame O Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where the remains of Prince Rainer III and Princess Grace Kelly rest.

They also wandered through the Oceanographic Museum, where they met Filipinos who have made a home in Monaco.
