We finally got a glimpse of "Float," one of Pixar's newest short films that will feature the first ever animated Filipino lead characters.
"Float" is part of Pixar Animation Studios' "Spark Shorts," an indie film-making experiment that welcomes new creative voices at Pixar to share their stories.
Spark Shorts recently got a trailer, which showcased the promising films that can soon be viewed at Disney's upcoming streaming service.
"Float" is directed by Filipino-American artist Bobby Rubio.
Replying to a supportive netizen on Twitter, Rubio said, "I too have waited 40+ years to see LEAD characters who looked like me on screen."
"I‘ve seen secondary & tertiary character, but 2 LEAD CGI #FilipinoAmericans in an animated film...never have I seen that!" he added.
He also tacked on the hashtag #RepresentationMatters.
