These NGOs can help set up volunteer events for you this holiday season

#Pinned makes it easier for the young Filipino adult to discover the latest stories about fashion, food, travel, gadgets, activities, and shopping. Our stories are written by young creatives who made it their life mission to know everything there is to know about how fellow young adults can make the most out of their limited down time every day, every week.

Because Christmas is the season of giving gifts and spreading love, why not organize a volunteer event for your family? This would allow you to give back to the community and give your family good memories. There are surely a lot of Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) who would appreciate your time and kindness. Here are some of them:

If you have no idea how to organize volunteer events, you should get in touch with U! Happy Events. Since 2006, this Manila-based volunteer organization has been making it easy for individuals and companies to create meaningful events that would benefit marginalized children. They connect sponsors and volunteers to NGOs, and help them set up activities and workshops that cater to the needs and interests of kids.

They aim to create positive changes in the lives of marginalized children by providing them sustainable assistance and teaching them good values. They also promote the culture of volunteering by empowering individuals to give back. Every year, they organize over 200 events that benefit over 100 NGOs.

Organizations that give shelter to poor and homeless lolos and lolas are always willing to help you arrange outreach programs for their residents. For instance, Anawim Lay Mission Foundation welcomes any families and companies who want to spend time with elderlies under their care.

Based in Rizal Province, this home for the aged serves as a sanctuary for the elderlies with nowhere else to go. The facility provides them with shelter, physical care, and medical assistance. They also make sure that the residents are living comfortably in their golden years.

Another organization that can help you organize a volunteer event for your family is Habitat for Humanity. This organization is known for their advocacy of helping people who cannot afford traditional homes, have safer and more affordable living conditions. They partner with different companies to provide families with clean water, sustainable energy, livelihoods, education, and healthcare.

Habitat for Humanity has a half-day or whole day immersion program called Juan Build, where volunteers can participate in actual construction work. It is a good avenue for volunteer events and outreach programs of companies and families.

There are many things you can give as Christmas gifts to your family. You can easily buy your parents expensive items at the mall, or give your nieces and nephews money. This time, though, give them something more meaningful, more in line with the holiday season.
