Lights herald the holidays in the metro


The most wonderful time of the year began early at SM Malls nationwide.  Celebrities and shoppers trooped to various branches of the retail giant to witness the spectacular unveiling of its Christmas displays. It will be on view through the holidays for free making SM Malls a favorite destination of Filipino families this time of the year.

Experience Flight of Lights

At SM Aura Premier, a chinoiserie-inspired Christmas centerpiece took shoppers’ breath away during the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony held at the Main Atrium of the mall.  The 33-ft spectacle was adorned with golden èventails, opulent feathers and a glorious shimmering phoenix as its highlight feature. An exciting circus performance from international and local acrobats, jugglers, and aerialists entertained the guests and mall-goers.

To make mall-going experience more exciting, two interactive light displays were opened for the public to enjoy. “Flight of Lights,” the first of the displays is situated at the back of the Christmas Tree centerpiece.  Shoppers must enter the golden bird cage to experience an interactive light show where a digital phoenix fly above their heads.

All malls are decked

Not to be outdone, all SM branches are also decked for the holidays. In SM Mall of Asia, a 60 ft Christmas Tree brings Yuletide cheers to shoppers. A spectacular indoor light and sound show also provide a mesmerizing experience. The dancing light display is set to holiday tunes and is open for the public to enjoy until December 31. There’s also a mailbox dedicated to Santa Claus available for kids who want to send their wish lists for Christmas.

In SM Megamall, Santa’s Crystal Castle in all its splendor, lights up faces of mall-goers at the Mega Fashion Hall.  “The 40-ft. Christmas centerpiece and exciting events will give our shoppers a one-of-a-kind English Christmas feel,” said Christian Mathay, AVP of Operations for Premier 2 Malls.

For a dazzling experience, an interactive Crystal Room with over a thousand fairy lights has been opened to the public. To make the trip to SM Megamall more special for kiddie shoppers, Thomas and Friends will perform Holiday dance numbers at the Event Center of Mega A from December 2 to 12. A Lego Christmas event will also happen from December 16 to 25.

In SM City North EDSA, a winter wonderland inspired centerpiece is spreading the magic of Christmas. “This year, we bring the magic of ice and snow to life through a fun-filled Christmas experience a Magical Holiday at SM City North EDSA to light up the holiday season for our shoppers," said SM Supermalls COO Steven Tan.

A sparkling 45-ft Snowflake Christmas Tree is certain to amaze mall-goers at The Block Atrium until January 5, 2020. Elsa and Anna from Disney’s Frozen will also visit to meet and greet kids on November 29, 30, and December 1.  Ballet Manila will also perform on December 14 and 21 to complete the magical shopping experience.
