Bondage teaches consent, boundaries, negotiation—soft porn artist

The Philippines is no stranger to pornography.

Data from a pornographic site showed that the country is ranked second in the world in the length of time watching porn videos and ranked eighth in number of porn viewers.

Experts said people use pornography as a learning tool for sexual techniques, as a means of sexual arousal, and as a way of gaining sexual pleasure or satisfaction.

But in an episode of I-Juander, a soft porn artist said certain types of pornography can also be used to teach concepts like consent.

"I'm a nude artist, so ibig sabihin naghuhubad ako for art. I go to 'yung mga drawing sessions with artists," said Nudista, who became a soft porn artist in 2017. "Hindi siya 'yung explicit na porn, but it's mostly like very erotic or very much sensual. Na tipong pag nakita mo, 'Wow, it's beautiful.'"

Soft porn is a type of pornography which focuses on teasing and eliciting feelings of excitement from the viewer rather than outright showing people performing sexual acts, she said.

According to her, bondage or rope art is one of the common themes of soft porn.

"I love what I'm doing kasi it teaches people na you can tie people but there's also so many layers to it. There's consent, boundaries, what you can and can't do, negotiation, so it goes beyond that," Nudista said.

She added that negotiation before rope-tying is important for the act to be safe for the people engaging in it.

"Talagang it's a big responsibility on the one tying na they're knowledgeable about what they're doing and na they always have the best intentions for the one being tied," she said.

Nudista said it's important to have respect for each other and educate society about sexual acts.

"What if our society now is more open? What if more people are accepting na puwede pala 'to?" she said. "It can be normalized if people can accept that you know, exposing one's body is normal, na tipong it's normal to have sex." —MGP, GMA News
