Miss Multinational 2020 postponed amid COVID-19 scare

The Miss Multinational 2020 has been moved to a later date following the rise in the global number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the Miss World Philippines organization said that the beauty pageant will be moved to May.

"Due to the pandemic scenario that we are encountering right now, the @MissMultinational organization decided to postpone the pageant from April 15-22, to May 20-30 in India," Miss World Philippines wrote.

It added that Philippine bet Isabelle de Leon was "beyond ready to get the second crown."

The first Filipina to win the title was Sophia Senoron, who bagged the crown in 2017.

Miss World Philippines selects the country's representatives to the Miss Multinational, Reina Hispanoamericana, and Miss Eco International pageants.

On Monday, Miss Eco International 2020 also postponed its pageant until May 26 to June 12 tentatively. It was set to take place on April 11 in Egypt.
