IT'S WORLD BOOK DAY

Here are Bianca Umali's 5 recommended books

Bianca Umali's Instagram followers would know how much the Kapuso actress loves books.

If not posting photos of herself reading while sunbathing, or a BTS shot of herself hanging out onset with a book wide open on her lap, Bianca likes to post photos of pages from whatever book that's keeping her company.

As such, it's almost a given to hear Bianca say the enhanced community quarantine has given her enough time to bury her nose in books — apart from "cooking, working out, and cleaning."

Because it's World Book Day, we asked Bianca for her reading recommendations. She gladly shared her five favorite books.

1. The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

"This is the book that has affected me deeply to date," Bianca says. It's a story about a loyal dog and his master going through life, with much of its wisdom inserted in the racing scenes of the story.

According to Bianca, she's highlighted much of the book, "but my favorite line would be the title itself. To me, it means that no matter how hard the road of life gets, wet or dry, under the sun or through rough heavy rains, there is always a way to finish the race."

2. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

A real Potterhead, Bianca says she's read Harry Potter over and over again. "I've lost count!" she exclaims. Every time she picks it up, she enjoys it nevertheless.

3. Stardust by Neil Gaiman

Stardust is a fantasy novel that has fairies, a witch, a star, and romance. There's been a movie made based on this unusual Gaiman story.

4. The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho

"I like Coelho books but 'The Alchemist' really stuck because it has such an endearing tale," Bianca says. "It teaches you wisdom as well as adventure."

5. The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha

"This is about appreciating the simplest of simple things in life."
