Missed your graduation? YouTube to hold star-studded virtual ceremony with Barack Obama, BTS, other celebs


YouTube will hold a star-studded virtual graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020.

Dubbed "Graduate #WithMe," the event will go live at 12 pm on June 6 (Pacific Standard Time).

To make the celebration extra special, YouTube has invited an impressive list of speakers, including Barack and Michelle Obama, K-pop group BTS, and Malala Yousafzai.

"#DearClassof2020, we know how hard you’ve worked to make it to graduation and we want to give you a celebration you deserve," the platform said.

Other speakers include Lady Gaga, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Sec. Robert Gates, and Sec. Condoleezza Rice.

Meanwhile, stars like Alicia Keys, the Try Guys, Zendaya, Kelly Rowland and Chloe x Halle will also be making special appearances during the ceremony.

With commencement exercises cancelled due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), this is probably the next best thing!

Filipino graduates will have to wake up early though, because our timezone is 15 hours ahead and that means the ceremony will be at 3 am on June 7 in the Philippines. —Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
