UP Institute of Creative Writing opens free online library for Filipiniana titles

The Likhaan: University of the Philippines Institute of Creative Writing has opened a virtual library where readers can access Filipiniana titles for free.

According to its introductory note, the “Freelipiniana Online Library” seeks to “bring Filipiniana literature to every Filipino in a time when information and education are limited.”

The “Freelipiniana” library can be accessed through this link.

The collection is divided into six sections: poetry, nonfiction, drama, graphic literature, and children’s literature.

Authors are also encouraged to submit contributions of published Filipiniana literature, including books and zines.

The UP Institute for Creative Writing opened the “Freelipiniana Online Library” as libraries continue to be inaccessible due to COVID-19.

“We want to encourage literacy and make education accessible even while the pandemic limits many of our essential activities,” the institute said.

For more information, you can send a message to Likhaan through its Facebook page or via email at icw.upd@up.edu.ph.

The institute also provided guidelines for authors who wish to contribute their work. – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
