Andi Eigenmann on why her kids don’t need expensive toys, especially during quarantine

Despite her celebrity status, Andi Eigenmann doesn’t believe in showering her kids with expensive toys.

In a recent IG post, the Siargao-based mother of two shared how "over-stimulated" her youngest Lilo was getting, so she brought out her eldest Ellie’s old wooden toys for her to play with — but it turns out that Lilo wasn't used to playing with toys at all.

Andi believes her youngest has gotten used to playing with coconut husks, twigs and whatever "nature provided" on the island.

Andi also shared how the COVID-19 lockdown has taught her family something important:

“Being on quarantine and unable to go out shopping, it made it clearer how even less our children really need to be happy. I don’t believe in showering my kids with so many toys (Especially at this age)," she wrote in the caption of her post.

Andi admitted she "wasn’t always this type of parent," but things changed when she "switched to a more minimal life."

The mom also shared how proud she was of her eldest Ellie who has decided to donate her toys to those in need.

"And I just love what kind of person it has helped her become," Andi said.

"It made me realize how it teaches them to value the things that they own, and take good care of it. Also, it definitely lessens our carbon footprint," she added. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
