Heart Evangelista shows all the pretty things we can do with Sorsogon's local gem, pili nuts

Heart Evangelista sure knows how to see the beauty in even the simplest things. She's been creatively using Sorsogon's local resources as tools for crafting, and one in particular caught her eye: The pili nut.

On Instagram, the Kapuso Queen of Creative Collaborations posted photos of how she's been learning to make use of pili nuts and upcycling them into something useful: as place mats, a handbag, curtain drapes, and other home decor accessories.

"Pili is the gem of Sorsogon. You can do so much with it!" Heart wrote in the caption of her post.

In another photo, Heart was seen sitting down with a local, who taught her how to upcycle the pili nuts.

"My beautiful and hardworking friend showing me how they were able to upcycle the pili nuts and turn them into something useful. Home and decor products for #LoveMarieXSorsogon will soon be available. Can't wait to share their talent with you!" she wrote in the caption.

Shortly after reuniting with her husband Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero, Heart  flew to Sorsogon, presumably with Chiz, visited hospitals to give away thousands of bottles of Vitamin C, enjoyed the peace and quiet of the province, and learned more about its arts and culture.

Just this July, she also launched Big Heart PH to help equip students with tools for education as most schools adapt to the new normal with online learning. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
