Filipino indie short film ‘Peksman’ gets selected for First-time Filmmaker Sessions 2020
The Filipino indie short film “Peksman” has been selected to be part of First-time Filmmaker Sessions 2020, an online festival hosted by Lift-Off Global Network.
The day-long festival, which aims to bring indie short films from around the world, will be held at Pinewood Studios, United Kingdom, and will feature industry experts as well as screen the selected films.
According to “Peksman” producer What About Productions’ press release Wednesday, the winning short film will receive an “official selection for a live screening” at Pinewood Studios and at Raleigh Studios, Hollywood, during the Los Angeles Lift-Off Film Festival.
The short film will be screened via Vimeo on Demand along with the other participants of the film festival from July 26 to Aug. 2. Viewers can also get one vote of their choice once they purchase one festival pass for $10.
“We created a story that would want to make you look back to your childhood; about how innocent yet brave we all once are. We believe that there is still a little bit of that inside us—if we look closely. Stubborn yet smart. We don’t want you to lose that,” said executive producer Erin Gillian Alvarez.
“‘Peksman’ is a story of hope and inspiration to the young people out there, that you have the power to change the world and create a difference as long as we believe in ourselves. And I think that’s what makes it so relevant in this pressing time,” the producer added.
Starring Kyle Kaiser Almenanza, Jam Maynigo and Shane Carrera, among other actors, “Peksman” bagged multiple nominations and brought home the People’s Choice Award at Sine Reel 2019. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
