'One Piece' manga heading to 'final arc' —reports

The journey of Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates is apparently coming to a close.

According to a report from Anime News Network, an advertisement from the Shonen Jump magazine teased that "One Piece" is "headed toward the upcoming final arc."

No other details were released, but the report noted that author Oda Eiichiro said last year that he wants to end the series in five years.

Another report from Comicbook said that the ad "encouraged fans to reread One Piece as soon as they can."

To this end, the report said that One Piece Magazine intends to publish tips to help readers "prepare for the climax."

The popular manga started in 1997. It follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy, who is searching for the ultimate treasure to become the next King of the Pirates. —MGP, GMA News
