Google Philippines to share distance learning strategies and tools with parents, teachers in a free webinar

Some parents and teachers are not sure where to start with the inevitable adjustments needed as schools start to shift to online distance learning amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Enter Google Philippines. The internet giant announced it will hold a two-day free public webinar to share distance learning knowledge and tools that will help both parents and teachers as they guide their students and children to this new normal.

In a statement, Google said the sessions will be streamed live on August 20 for teachers and August 21 for parents. Both will be at 2 pm on Google Philippines' YouTube channel and Facebook page.

The webinar will feature experts who will be sharing "a range of helpful topics from introduction to distance learning for teachers and parents, student assessment and engagement, supporting families with remote learning, the role of YouTube for education, and online child safety among others."

Head of Communications and Public Affairs at Google Philippines Mervin Wenke said they want to help their educators and parents "as we navigate through the shapes and forms of learning in the time of coronavirus."

"It is an uncertain period and there is no ready playbook to all the challenges we are facing at the moment but we hope that through efforts like this webinar series, we are able to contribute and play an important role," he added.
