'Powerpuff Girls' live-action series in the works -reports

Our childhoods are about to come to life — the classic cartoon "Powerpuff Girls" is getting a live-action remake.

According to Variety, the new show is in development at The CW.

But this time, they won't be cute little superpowered kids. Instead, they'll be "disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting."

"Powerpuff Girls" is an animated kids' show by Craig McCracken. It follows the team of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, who were accidentally created by Professor Utonium when he mixed in Chemical X with sugar, spice, and everything nice.

The original show ran from 1998 to 2005.
