Vico Sotto says Pasig City has 6 retired K9 dogs up for adoption

On International Dog Day, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced that six of the city's retired K9 dogs are up for adoption.

"International Dog Day daw ngayon! Sakto, may anim kaming aso na for adoption. Mga nag-retiro sa K9 Unit natin," he tweeted.

On Facebook, he issued a reminder, saying "those who will adopt should be experienced in handling dogs."

The neophyte mayor posted the photos of the six dogs on his Facebook page. Five of the dogs are Belgian Malinoi, while the last one is a Malinois Labrador.

Those interested in adopting the dogs, can message Pasig City DRRMO.

More and more animal lovers, like Heart Evangelista and Carla Abellana, are advocating for pet adoption instead of buying them.

According to animal welfare advocate and TV host Amanda Giese, "Everyone wants the cute, fluffy puppy but it doesn’t stay a little puppy forever. It will look like that for less than a year, and you don’t know its personality, temperament, or quirks. But when you’re adopting an adult animal or a senior, you know exactly what that animal’s like; their personality, their fears, their behavior. You know what you’re getting." — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
