'Cinderella' musical in the works starring Idina Menzel, Camila Cabello, Billy Porter

A new "Cinderella" film adaptation is in the works!

Even better, it will feature original songs performed by big stars Idina Menzel, Billy Porter, and Camila Cabello.

Nicholas Galitzine, Minnie Driver and Pierce Brosnan are also part of the cast.

The film promises to be a "musically-driven bold new take on the traditional 'Cinderella' story in which our heroine is an ambitious young woman whose dreams are bigger than the world will allow."

According to its website, "Cinderella" is written and directed by Kay Cannon, and produced by James Corden, Leo Pearlman, Jonathan Kadin, and Shannon McIntosh.

Louise Rosner is the executive producer.

"Cinderella" is a folk tale that has borne countless variations of stories around the world.

In 1950, Disney produced the well-known and well-loved cartoon "Cinderella," and followed it up with a live-action adaptation in 2015 starring Lily James and Richard Madden. —JCB, GMA News
