This Undas season, care for some DIY candles?
Even if we can't go to cemeteries to pay our departed loved ones a visit this Undas season, we can always honor them by lighting a candle.
GMA-7's "Unang Hirit" invited an expert to show viewers some special kinds of candles they can buy for All Saints Day.
If you're on a budget, however, the segment also includes a tutorial on how to make your own recycled candles at home.
First, collect some left-over candles you may have at home, then slice them into small pieces.
Next, take a glass and pour a few drops of melted candle wax at the bottom. This will help you lock the candle wick or "mitsa" at the center while making your candle.
Fill the glass to the top with sliced candle pieces.
Finally, pour more melted wax until you fill the glass.
Make sure the wick is upright and center the entire time.
Viewers were reminded to be mindful where you light your candles, and be very careful when handling hot wax.
Learning how to make your own candles is not just a great way to save money. It can also be a fun activity for the family and make your usual candle-lighting tradition even more meaningful.
