The Itchyworms just dropped back to back Christmas songs for your holiday needs

Wanna get into that Filipino Christmas spirit? The Itchyworms might be able to help with that.

The OPM band just released two holiday tracks: "Maligayang Pasko" and "Have A Merry Christmas."

"Maligayang Pasko" takes listeners back to the ‘70s and early ‘80s era with its laid-back, groovy tune that winks toward Manila Sound and city pop.

Meanwhile, "Have A Merry Christmas" was inspired by a meme featuring Jose Mari Chan, who is iconic for his holiday songs, particularly "Christmas in Our hearts."

Drummer and lead vocalist Jazz Nicolas said Christmas songs are important in this time of pandemic.

"We need to be reminded of the joy and hope and the spirit of giving. It’s the time of year when the world falls in love, so it’s important to listen to Christmas songs all year round," Nicolas said.

Kelvin Yu, the band’s bassist, echoed Nicolas' sentiments.

"There will always be Christmas songs: during good times, it further uplifts us; and during not so good times, it can provide us with that warm hug that everyone needs come December," he said.

Both songs are now available for streaming on digital platforms, including Spotify. —JCB, GMA News
