Homebound because of lockdown, 71-year-old woman discovers Mobile Legends and becomes 'Lola Gaming'
A 71-year-old woman who is known as "Lola Gaming" discovered esports during the quarantine period.
In an episode of "IRL," Carmen 'Lola Gaming" Taqueba shared how her grandchildren have been her cohorts in "Mobile Legends," teaching her how to play and giving her strategies for the famous game.
"Bigay ng pandemic siguro. 'Pag wala na to, wala na. Nasa bahay na lang ako naka-tanga," she said.
"Dati akong nagtitinda. Tapos hindi na ako pinalabas ng mga anak ko tapos eto na nga, naglalaro na ako," she said.
According to Lola Gaming, her children would often tell her to stop playing. "Tapos nung nakita nila akong naglalaro, natuwa na rin sila," she added.
"Nasanay na rin ako dito, kasi yung mga apo ko ang nagtuturo sa kin," she said. "Kapag nade-dead ako, siyempre kukuha nanaman ng player, tatawagin ko na naman sila," she said.
She's gotten deep into her new hobby that she now even has a gaming station, complete with a PC, a monitor, and a comfortable gaming chair. According to Lola Gaming, her grandson John Rey would set-up her gaming PC for her, before she starts playing.
Lola Gaming said she found happniess in playing ML. She also said she would often hear the young ones tell her not to play, but for her it's one way to keep her brain thinking.
"Ang saya-saya kaya maglaro. Tapos yung ibang kabataan sabi nila, 'hay nako lola wag ka na maglaro. Bakit ka pa naglalaro?' Siyempre kako ang isip ng matanda dapat hinahasa yan, kasi kapag wala kang ginagawa humihina isip mo nagiging ulyanin ka," she said.
