Chito Miranda expressed his support for K-pop artists and defended K-pop fans after a netizen bashed BTS and Blackpink online.

In a comment on the Parokya ni Edgar Facebook page, Chito shared a screenshot of an exchange between him and the netizen, who dared Army and Blinks to curse him.

The Parokya frontman urged him to respect the musical taste of others and subsequently directed the same advice to everyone.

"Bakit kayo galit sa trip ng iba? Kanya-kanyang trip lang 'yan eh," he said. "Di ba puwedeng iba trip nila sa trip mo tapos ok lang tayo lahat?"

Chito said he likes BTS and Blackpink himself and said he doesn't understand why others would hate on their fans.

"Ako trip ko sila. Sobrang galing kaya nila," he said. "Kung di mo sila trip, oks lang naman."

Chito's comments came over a week after former beauty queen Imelda Schweighart expressed similar sentiments as the netizen. Both of them said Filipinos should support local artists instead.

But with Ben&Ben topping the most streamed artist list for Spotify Philippines in 2020—besting BTS and Blackpink, to boot—looks like Pinoys support OPM well enough.

And with Mayonnaise writing a song named after Blackpink's Rosé, let's face it—even Filipino artists are K-pop fans. —MGP, GMA News
