Sponge Cola drops music video for ‘Siguro Nga,’ a song inspired by Han Ji-pyeong of ‘Start-Up’

Sponge Cola has unveiled the music video for their song “Siguro Nga,” the band’s tribute to the South Korean drama “Start-Up,” particularly to “good boy” Han Ji-pyeong.

Released Wednesday, the video shows a couple struggling as they deal with the changes in their relationship.

“Separated by their own version of realities, both characters try to move forward with the changes in their respective lives, albeit having a difficulty wiping out their memories together—especially with the song forever binding them in spirit,” said a statement shared by Sony Music.

Guitarist Armo Armovit said that through the video, they wanted to honor people who were no longer around by living in memories.

“We want them to feel nostalgia for a person in their past who was a meaningful presence in their lives; sadness for the loss, but also, hope for the future,” he said.

The video features YouTube sensations and couple Agassi Ching and Jai Asuncion, who are friends with the band’s vocalist and guitarist Yael Yuzon.

“I also produced the song he (Agassi) wrote for Jai during the stricter quarantine period through file sharing,” Yael said.

On casting the couple, he said: “I also watch their daily vlogs. On some level, I felt like I was always involved in their love story. It just made sense to cast them.”

The music video comes with a lyric version, featuring spots in Seoul, where “Start-Up” was shot.

Yael earlier revealed that he wrote the song after watching the drama’s ninth episode, saying he was inspired by the second lead character Han Ji-Pyeong.
