GMA News’ Mav Gonzales, Oscar Oida to share inspirational stories in new show ‘On Record’
GMA News reporters Mav Gonzales and Oscar Oida will deliver good vibes and inspirational stories through the new GMA News and Public Affairs show “On Record.”
“On Record” will focus on the real stories behind viral videos, pictures, and posts online.
“Alam naman natin sa panahon ngayon very important ’yung malaman natin ’yung mga kuwento sa kabila ng mga imahe or mga visuals na kadalasan eh may mga kababayan tayo na madaling mag-komento, mag-judge base lang sa nakikita nila ’no?” Oscar told the media in a virtual interview.
“Binibigyan ng stress ng GMA ang importansya ng knowing the story behind these pictures at dahil nga panahon ng pandemya, importante na naghahatid tayo ng inspirasyon, konting ngiti, konting saya, dahil madami nga tayong kababayan na pinaghihinaan ng loob,” he added.
Mav said that while they hope to bring good vibes to the viewers, the program would still have a “public service aspect.”
“Hindi lang siya puro ‘kuwento mo ano ’yung behind ng stories and pictures’ pero we try to also offer some kind of help in a way doon sa public na kino-cover namin for that particular episode,” she said.
As a reporter for over two decades, Oscar is aware how too much bad news can cause anxiety.
With the new show, he said they wanted to encourage their viewers to be critical of the content they share online.
He said “On Record” would bring “good vibes, inspiration, at the same time valuable information.”
Mav, who has been a reporter for over 10 years at GMA, said this was an opportunity for them to showcase their lighter side.
“I think madaming reporters na hindi lang naman alam ng mga tao na kalog in real life, na nakakatawang tao in real life. It’s just that siyempre persona mo dapat seryoso ka, you look credible and, ano, medyo serious. Pero I think etong ‘On Record,’ chance din siya na maipakita na meron ding other side to reporters,” she said.
She said the show takes her back to her roots when she hosted “Tsikiting Patrol” on GMA-7 back in 1998.
“Noong bata po ako nag-host ako ng ‘Tsikiting Patrol’ sa GMA-7 din so sabi ko dito ako lumaki sa ganitong klase, ’yung maghohost ka ng educational magazine show at sa GMA din po ’yun. Nag-simula ako sa mga 1998,” she said.
“Sobrang breath of fresh air din ’to, at the same time it’s like going back to my roots when I was a child so nag-eenjoy po ako,” she added.
“On Record” will premiere Feb. 16. Kapuso viewers can watch it every Tuesday, 11:30 p.m. on GMA-7. – RC, GMA News
