‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ cast members share thoughts as series ends after 8 seasons

The American comedy series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is coming to an end after eight years of laughter and heists.

After its network NBC announced that the show’s upcoming eighth season would be its last, its cast members expressed their gratitude for being part of the show.

“I’m sad it will end, but happy to have had the chance to be a part of something so special,” said Terry Crews, who played Sergeant Terry Jeffords.

“It has been one of the greatest joys and honor of my life to play Amy,” tweeted Melissa Fumero, who played Amy Santiago. “I am so grateful to be able to take a victory lap with our beloved cast and crew. To our amazing fans, we love you. No tears for now, we still have a whole season to shoot!”

Joe Lo Truglio, who played Charles Boyle, said: “Love our show and thankful to everyone who helped bring these extraordinary people into my orbit. Charles Boyle changed my life for the better in a million ways. But we’re not done! To the best fans, we [love] you. You’re the real sexy train and don’t leave the station quite yet!”

Dirk Blocker, who played Michael Hitchcock, shared the announcement by producer Dan Goor. “I love this man, I love this group, and I love that I got to be a part of this,” he said.

“What a joy this run has been. Best partner, best ensemble, best writers, best crew members, best fans!” he also tweeted, sharing a clip from “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and tagging his partner in the show.

Joel McKinnon Miller, who played Norm Scully, said: “Best cast. Best crew. Best fans,” adding hearts emoji and the hashtag #BestJobEver.

Stephanie Beatriz, who played Rosa Diaz, also shared a photo of the show’s cast and crew, with the caption: “Squad forever.”

Chelsea Peretti, meanwhile, retweeted an article from Variety about the looming end of the show.

The Golden Globe award-winning “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” which also features Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher, revolves around individuals working for a Brooklyn police station.

The farewell season, which will air in 2021 to 2022, is set to have only 10 episodes. The show will wrap up after 153 episodes, the number envisioned by producers Dan, Mike Schur, and Andy Sandberg for the series.

Dan thanked NBC and Universal Television for allowing them to give the characters and their fans “the ending they deserve.”

“I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with this amazing cast and crew for eight seasons. They are not only among the most talented people in the business, they are all good human beings who have become a family,” he said. “But most of all I feel lucky that we have had the best fans in the world.”

He added: “Ending the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately, we felt it was the best way to honor the characters, the story and our viewers. I know some people will be disappointed it’s ending so soon, but honestly I’m grateful it lasted this long. Title of my sex tape.” – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
