10 new Korean shows you won't want to miss on Netflix this year


If you've run out of things to watch during quarantine, worry not because Netflix has new offerings of Korean dramas.

The streaming giant just unveiled its lineup of big titles you just might fall in love with this year.

Among the new shows announced during Netflix's "See What's Next Korea 2021" launch include an all-new zombie thriller and a jaw-dropping space adventure starring Gong Yoo ("Goblin") and Bae Doo Na ("Kingdom").

1. The Silent Sea. What happens if the Earth is almost out of water and food almost due to global desertification?

This sci-fi mystery-thriller starring Gong Yoo (Goblin), Bae Doo Na (Kingdom) and Lee Joon (Ninja Assassin) is about a team that goes on a perilous mission to retrieve a sample from an abandoned research facility on the moon.

2. Hellbound. Adapted from the popular webtoon “Hell,” this upcoming series will depict an intense supernatural phenomena experienced by people who are condemned to hell after their unexpected encounters with angels of death.

The cast includes This upcoming series stars Yoo Ah In (#Alive, Sungkyungkwan Scandal), alongside Park Jeong Min, Kim Hyun Ju, Won Jin Ah, and Yang Ik Jun.

3. D.P. Short for deserter pursuit, D.P. follows the story of a Korean military officer who tracks down military deserters and encounters the realities of confused military soldiers.

The upcoming Netflix Original series stars Jung Hae In (Something In The Rain), alongside Koo Kyo Hwan, Kim Sung Kyun, and Son Seok Koo.

4. Love Alarm (Season 2). Are you Team Hye Young or Team Sun Oh?

“Love Alarm” takes place in a world where a social media app can notify users if someone within a 10-meter radius has romantic feelings for them.

Season 2 is set to arrive March 12, which means fans will finally get to see what happens next to Jojo (Kim So Hyun), who has unresolved feelings for Hye Young (Jung Ga Ram) and his friend Sun Oh (Song Kang).

5. All of Us Are Dead. If “Kingdom” was set in the Joseon period, can you imagine what would happen if the zombie apocalypse happened while you’re in a highschool?

“All of Us Are Dead” is based on the popular webtoon “Now At Our School” and it stars Yoon Chan Yeong (Everything and Nothing), together with Park Ji Hu, Cho Yi Hyun, Lomon, and Yoo In Soo. 

6. My Name. “My Name” is an upcoming mystery thriller series where Han So Hee (The World of The Married) plays a woman who joins the police force as an undercover agent for a crime organization.

7. Squid Game. How far would you go to win a mysterious survival game with a 40-million-dollar prize at stake? “Squid Game” follows Ki Hun (Lee Jung Jae), a man who decides to play after losing his job and hitting rock bottom.

8. Move to Heaven. This Netflix Original Series tells the story of a man with Asperger’s syndrome and his guardian (Lee Je Hoon and Tang Jun Sang) who start a “trauma cleaning” business where they uncover the stories that are left behind by the deceased.

9. So Not Worth It. Netflix’s upcoming sitcom “So Not Worth It” revolves around the lives of students of diverse nationalities living in the international dormitory of a university in Seoul.

The cast includes Park Se Wan, Shin Hyeon Seung, Choi Young Jae of GOT& and Minnie of (G)I-DLE.

10. Paik’s Spirit. Craving for alcohol lately?

If yes, you won’t wanna miss Netflix’s upcoming reality series “Paik’s Spirit” where Korean chef Paik Jong Won sits down with some of the country’s top celebrities and personalities over a drink.
