Martin del Rosario channeled this Marvel character to play Zardoz in 'Voltes V: Legacy'
We’re all excited to see Martin del Rosario as the mischievous Prince Zardos in “Voltes V: Legacy,” but did you know that a certain Marvel villain helped him get into character?
During a recent ZOOMustahan session with GMA Network, the actor revealed how he tried to channel no less than Loki, the God of Mischief, for the role.
“Actually tinitingnan ko talaga si Loki. Pero siya kasi very cunning,” Martin told GMANetwork.com. “Si Prince Zardoz kasi, he's very mischievous pero may honor siya. Hindi siya 'yung manloloko. Patas siya na leader and he's a man of his word."
“Kaya 'yung preparation talaga very Loki 'yung tindig na medyo parang may nakakalokong tingin. Pero kailangan ko lang din ibaba 'yung boses ko na one note lower para mas may authority at nasa posture at matatalas na tingin.”
Fans all around the world are hyped to see “Voltes V: Legacy,” GMA Network’s highly-anticipated live action series based on the beloved Japanese anime.
The main cast includes Miguel Tanfelix as Steve Armstrong (Ken'ichi Go); Ysabel Ortega as Jamie Robinson (Megumi Oka); Radson Flores as Mark Gordon; Matt Lozano as Robert "Big Bert" Armstrong, and Raphael Landicho as Armstrong brother "Little Jon."
Martin admitted he was nervous to be part of such a huge project, but he believes Prince Zardos is a role of a lifetime and promises to make Voltes V fans proud.
“'Yung una kong natanggap 'yung news na ito, parang may halong nakaka-overwhelm at saka pressure. Siguro pressure in a sense na ang 'Voltes V' ay ilang generations na ang nakapanood nito, e. Kahit nung panahon pa nung nanay ko and 'yung mga pinsan ko na mas older sa akin, and even until now na ipapalabas ang 'Voltes V: Legacy’,” he said.
“May pressure na dapat tapatan 'yung original na 'Voltes V,' of course, excited and honored na ibinigay sa akin ng GMA Network si Prince Zardoz, na isang napakalaking role,” he added. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
