Samantha Bernardo's Miss Grand International evening gown is inspired by Palawan's yellow-throated leafbird


Samantha Bernardo slayed in her green "Lipad" evening gown as she once again showcased her #GRANDnada Walk at Miss Grand International's preliminary competition on Thursday.

According to fashion stylist Kenneth Ramil Yturralde, the gown is inspired by the yellow-throated leafbird is commonly found in Palawan.

Designed by Louis Pangilinan, it is decorated with hand-embroidered beads and sequins and accentuated with gold crystals to represent the bird's yellow throat.

Meanwhile, the feathers in the lower part of the gown are from fibers extracted by hand and worked into fine threads woven together.

Kenneth also said that the emerald green color shows a woman's growth, humility, and courage, traits that Samantha herself embodies.

The beauty queen previously highlighted one of the Philippines' treasures through her Philippine Eagle-inspired national costume "Agila."

Samantha also first showed off her #GRANDnadaWalk during the swimsuit competition on Saturday.

The video garnered more than 200,000 views, 28,000 likes and 5,000 comments which made her one of the five finalists by vote for the "Best in Swimsuit" award.
