‘DOTA o Ako’ gets a sequel after 10 years!

At this point, almost all Filipinos are probably familiar with the tune of “DOTA o Ako.”

Ten years and 24 million views later, Netflix is releasing a sequel to “DOTA o Ako,” the hilarious and catchy song about a man’s dilemma in choosing between his girlfriend and his favorite game.

The sequel, titled “DOTA at Ako: DOTA o Ako 10 Years After,” reunites Aikee and Vanessa, who appear to be taking their relationship to a whole new level by tying the knot.

In the music video, Aikee could be seen answering Vanessa’s tale-old question: DOTA or her?

Similar to the original music video, the sequel features the same catchy tune enhanced by iconic videoke-style graphics.

According to Aikee, he can’t even imagine that his song 10 years ago will have a sequel, and from Netflix at that.

“Sobrang saya po ng puso ko dahil nabigyan ulit ng chance ang awiting tumatak sa tao isang dekada na ang nakalipas.”

[My heart is so happy because the song that captured so many people’s hearts was again given a chance after a decade.]

Vanessa, meanwhile, said she was excited to work with Aikee again after 10 years.

“We’ve gotten so busy individually with our careers so it was definitely time to catch up and reminisce in a super memorable and major way!” she said.

“So when I got the call to do a remake I immediately canceled my schedule and confirmed! I knew I was gonna do it! I had to do it for sure! And especially ecstatic to do the sequel with Netflix because I am obsessed!”

Apart from the sequel, Netflix released “DOTA: Dragon’s Blood,” an eight-episode anime series that follows Davion the Dragon Knight as he accompanies an exiled princess on a dangerous mission. 

This new series will not only be a treat for DOTA 2 fans, but also Filipinos worldwide as it comes with Tagalog dub. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
