Iwa Moto says showbiz was 'toxic' for her mental health
Former actress Iwa Moto revealed that working in the showbiz industry had been detrimental for her mental health.
In an interview with Nelson Canlas, Iwa said that she sometimes misses what she used to do, but she is now at peace with her life.
"I may not be where I want to be but I am happy where I am right now," she said in a mix of English and Filipino.
"Previously I thought I would be an actress for life. I didn't expect that becoming a mother would change that [and] my world," she added.
Iwa said she loved her job but she realized at one point that the profession wasn't doing her good.
"For me, it's toxic. It's unhealthy for me because I felt before that I don't have privacy and at the same time all my problems used to get televised," she said.
"I love what I was doing before but it's not for me and I have to let it go. I have to give peace to myself because I deserve that," she said.
Iwa quit showbiz years ago. Asked if she's willing to give it another chance, she said is not entirely closing the door for a comeback but her family remains her priority.
"I would love to try to juggle motherhood and my passion but it still depends on my family," she said.
Iwa also revealed that she was diagnosed with bipolar and post-traumatic stress disorders. According to her, she was able to survive her condition thanks to her family.
Now a mom to Mimi and Caleb Jiro, Iwa said she is happy and doing "better."
