Pinoys stream 'I'll be there for you' as 'Friends: The Reunion' drops on HBO GO


Fans of iconic 90s sitcom "Friends" have been sweltering with anticipation the week heading into the release of the "Friends: The Reunion" on HBO GO!

According to Spotify, the theme song of the show, "I'll be there for you" by The Rembrandts, reached more than 137 million streams globally.

The official "Friends" playlist also received an 80% increase in streams compared to the previous week as fans ramp up the nostalgia. The streams are 200% higher this year compared to the same time last year.

Filipinos are among the top 10 countries streaming the playlist, joining India, Turkey, Germany, United States, Brazil, United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Italy.

But it's not just OG fans who are streaming the "Friends" sound track. Apparently, the 18-24 age group has been listening to the songs the most, followed by the 25-29 age group.

Meanwhile, "Smelly Cat," the surprise hit of the series, have reached over 1.5 million streams in total for the three versions. It also enjoyed a spike in the last few days ahead of the reunion.

"Friends," a series that follows the lives of six reckless adults living in Manhattan, aired from 1994 to 2004.

"Friends: The Reunion" is now streaming on HBO GO. It marks the first time that the original cast reunited in 17 years.
